For day 6 of our trip, we are going to spend a magnificent day in Les Saintes on the island of Terre du Haut.

We left our accommodation in Bouillante at 7:00 a.m., even though the ferry to Trois-Rivières wasn't until 9:00 a.m. At that time of day, there can be traffic jams. It's the start of the school year, and the roads are very busy. So we arrived at the ferry terminal around 8:00 a.m. The parking lot wasn't too crowded yet, and we found a spot without any trouble. We even had time for a quick coffee at the snack bar/tea room, M’POZ DES ÎLES.

The crossing takes about 25 minutes and the sea is choppy. We choose to sit inside the boat because outside, the sun is very strong and there's a lot of sea spray. We get thoroughly soaked.

Once we arrive in Les Saintes, we meet up with our Quebec friends, Line and Pierre, with whom we'll spend the day.

We pick up the golf cart we reserved a few weeks ago from Yes Location.

We then set off for Fort Napoleon, our first stop on the island, as the fort is only open to visitors in the morning. The guided tour is definitely worth it. Our guide, Nathan, is very friendly and has a great sense of humor.

Fort Napoleon offers a superb view of the island.

After our visit to the fort, we went back "into town" to buy sandwiches for a picnic at Pompierre Beach. The beach was beautiful, but the sea was full of sargassum seaweed.

We had our picnic anyway, but then we headed to another beach on the other side of the island, Crawen Beach. The last part of the road to get there was very steep, so we left our golf cart on the side of the road and finished the descent on foot.

The beach was lovely, and there was no sargassum. We were able to swim peacefully. We put on our fins, masks, and snorkels and were lucky enough to see two beautiful giant turtles. One even came up to breathe air just a few centimeters from Jeff.

We have to return our car at 4pm and take the last ferry at 5:15pm. We take our time leaving Crawen beach to admire the beautiful views we see along the way.

We had a wonderful day in Les Saintes. Our only regret is that one day wasn't enough.

See you soon!
