Portneuf Regional Natural Park is a well-kept secret. It's located in Saint-Alban in the Portneuf region, about an hour west of Quebec City.
The park has four hiking sectors. Only the Gorges sector is open year-round. It comprises five trails with a total possible distance of approximately 11 km.
The Gorges sector offers exceptional views of the cliffs overlooking the Sainte-Anne River. The view from the end of the island is simply magnificent. Each season brings its own colours and gives this landscape a different look.
Along the trail, you'll also find an old hydroelectric power station dating back to 1926. But what makes this hike unique is the section that allows you to walk inside the old wooden penstock.
Given its proximity to us, it's a place we visit regularly and love to share with our friends.
