Jacques-Cartier National Park is my favorite park in Quebec. It's part of the Sépaq network and is located about 50 km north of Quebec City. It's a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and hikers. There are trails for everyone: easy, difficult, long, short… In short, something to enjoy regardless of your fitness level or the time you have available.
Even though it's classified as "Difficult," the Scotora Trail is one of my favorite hikes. It's long, but it doesn't present any particular challenges.
First of all, the trailhead is located at kilometer 30 of the park, which is quite far inside. I never tire of the magnificent scenery you can admire along the way there.
Then, during the climb, you discover several different ecosystems: the forest, the river, the towering cliffs, the plateau with its lakes, and the beaver dams.
Finally, when you reach the summit, the view unfolds at the very last moment. It's simply magnificent. All the effort of getting there is forgotten. It's the perfect place to take a real break and recharge before heading back down.
